# Attachment Improvements - Advanced Functionality
## Expanded Attachment Functionality Now Available Across All Key Areas in ServiceBox
### Summary
We have made significant improvements to the **Attachments** tab in ServiceBox. These enhancements build on existing functionality and introduce new capabilities that give users greater control and visibility over attachments across the system. One major addition is the ability to view **related items** directly within the Attachments tab, depending on user role and permissions.
### What are Attachments?
In ServiceBox, an **attachment** refers to an image, document, or other file (including videos and links) that is associated with a specific entity—such as a **Customer**, **Job Site**, **Quote**, **Work Order**, **Invoice**, or **Unit**. Attachments may include PDFs, shared Dropbox folders, or even URLs. For certain areas (like Quotes, Work Orders, and Invoices), attachments can also be included in the customer-facing PDF.
### Core Functionality (Applies to All Attachment Tabs)
- Upload files and provide a description
- Connect to Dropbox and link a file
- Attach links with descriptions
- Edit existing attachments
- View all attachments for the selected entity
- View attachments for related entities (if permissions allow)
### Attachments by Area
#### **Customer**
Users can:
- Add new attachments specific to the customer
- View/edit attachments from:
- Related job sites
- Related quotes
- Related work orders
- Related invoices
- Related units
#### **Job Site**
Users can:
- Add new attachments specific to the job site
- View/edit attachments from:
- Related quotes
- Related work orders
- Related invoices
- Related units
#### **Quote**
Users can:
- Add new attachments to the quote
- View/edit attachments from:
- Related work orders
- Related invoices
#### **Work Order**
Users can:
- Add new attachments to the work order
- View/edit attachments from:
- Related quotes
- Related invoices
#### **Invoice**
Users can:
- Add new attachments to the invoice
- View/edit attachments from:
- Related quotes
- Related work orders
#### **Unit**
Users can:
- Add new attachments to the unit
- Edit existing attachments for the unit
