Can we Send SMS/Text Messages to Our Clients Thru ServiceBox?

Understanding SMS Capabilities in ServiceBox

Issue

Users often ask if they can send text messages to their clients directly through ServiceBox, or if they can set up automated SMS notifications for appointment reminders or other messages.

 

Cause

Currently, ServiceBox's SMS functionality is focused on two specific automated notifications:

  • Enroute Notifications

  • Day Before Appointment Notifications

There is no ability at this time to send a manual SMS directly from a Work Order or other record.

 

Solution

While manual SMS messaging is not supported, ServiceBox offers an SMS Messaging Add-On to automate key notifications. Here's how to set it up and what to expect:

1. Activate SMS Messaging Add-On

  • Navigate to Settings in your ServiceBox account.

  • Enable the SMS Messaging Add-On to allow SMS communication for notifications.

2. Automated Notifications via SMS

Once activated, ServiceBox will send the following messages to customers via SMS instead of email:

  • Enroute Notifications: Alerts customers when a technician is on their way.

  • Day Before Notifications: Reminds customers of their upcoming appointment the day before the scheduled service.

3. Ensure Customer Mobile Numbers Are Stored

For SMS delivery to work, a valid mobile number must be saved in the Customer Profile. ServiceBox will pull this number when sending SMS messages.

 

While direct SMS from Work Orders is not currently available, users can still email clients using the email functionality in the Work Order screen for real-time communication.
