Creating Work Orders

Summary

This document explains the various ways to create a new work order for a customer in ServiceBox. There are several methods available — choose the one that best suits your workflow.

 

Ways to Create a Work Order

You can create a work order using the following methods:

  • From the main ServiceBox screen

  • From a customer or job site

  • From the Scheduler (in dispatcher mode or main view)

 

From Main ServiceBox Screen

Create a new work order by selecting: New → Work Order on the main screen.
You’ll need to enter the Customer, Job Site, Assigned To user, and work details.


 

From inside a customer

  1. Locate and open a customer.

  2. Click on the Work Order tab.

  3. Click the Add Work Order button.

The customer field will be pre-filled, but you’ll still need to choose a Job Site and Assigned To user.


From inside a Job Site

  • Locate and open a job site.

  • Click the Work Order tab.

  • Click Add Work Order.

 

From the Scheduler (Dispatcher Mode)

  1. Open the Scheduler and switch to Dispatcher Mode.

  2. Click on a time slot for a specific employee.

  3. Select Add Work Order (or Scheduled Event).

This will open the work order form with the chosen time slot and assigned user pre-filled. You’ll still need to enter the Customer, Job Site, and remaining details.

 

Fields Required to Complete the Work Order

To complete and save a work order, the following fields must be entered:

  • Bill To – The customer being billed

  • Job Site – The location where the work takes place

  • Assigned To – The person responsible for the work

  • Status – The current status of the work order (defaults to a value on create)

  • Description – A summary of the work to be completed

Optional:

  • Timeslot – Set the start and end time if you'd like to immediately schedule the work
