How to Import a Customer List into ServiceBox

Importing a customer list into ServiceBox can streamline your operations by consolidating client data into one centralized system. If you're running into challenges with the import, this step-by-step guide will help you complete the process smoothly.

 

Step 1: Export the Template File

  1. Log into your ServiceBox account.

  2. In the left-hand menu, click Customers.

  3. On the Customer page, click the EXPORT button at the top.

 

 

This will download an Excel template titled "ServiceBox Customers Workbook."
If the file opens in Protected View, click Enable Editing to begin.

 

Step 2: Fill In Customer Information

Use the exported Excel sheet to enter or update customer data. Follow these formatting guidelines to avoid errors:

  • ID: System-generated — do not change this field.

  • Individual Customers: Fill in First Name and Last Name.

  • Company Customers: Fill in Company Name (leave First and Last Name blank).

  • Phone/Mobile Number: Must contain only numeric values.

  • Country/Province: You may enter either the full name or the abbreviation (e.g., Canada or CA).

  • Default Tax Level: Use the dropdown menu in the cell to select a tax level.

  • Pricebook: If you're using pricebooks, select one from the dropdown based on what's configured in your settings.

  • Custom Fields: For dropdown or multi-select fields, ensure the values match the options configured in your ServiceBox settings.

When done, save the file in the same format (Excel Workbook).

 

Step 3: Import the File into ServiceBox

  1. Return to the Customers page in ServiceBox.

  2. Click the IMPORT button. 

 

 

3. Click Choose File and select the updated Excel file.

 

4. Click Import.

A confirmation message will appear in the top right corner under your user name.
You’ll also receive an email notification once the import is complete.

Step 4: Review the Import

After receiving the confirmation email:

  • Refresh your Customers page in ServiceBox.

  • Review the newly imported customer data to ensure accuracy.
