How do I Turn Off Auto Numbering and Auto bullets in Description Fields?
Tips for managing unwanted formatting in rich text editors
Issue:
"Auto numbering and auto bullets are automatically applied when typing in the in description field."
Cause:
The Rich Text Editor in ServiceBox automatically applies formatting—like bullet points or numbered lists—when specific characters are entered at the beginning of a line. For example:
-
Typing "1." triggers a numbered list
-
Typing "-" triggers a bullet point
This formatting is applied when the user presses Enter after the line, as the editor assumes the start of a list.
Solution
There are two ways to disable or undo the auto-formatting:
-
Press Ctrl+Z immediately after hitting Enter
This will undo the applied list formatting. -
Highlight the text and remove formatting using the toolbar
Click on the formatting button (like bullet or number icons) to toggle it off.
These methods apply to all rich text editor fields in ServiceBox, similar to formatting behavior in Microsoft Word.
Conclusion
While the Rich Text Editor helps with structured formatting, the auto bullets and numbering can be disabled for greater control. Users can quickly undo it with Ctrl+Z or use the toolbar to manually remove formatting.
