How to Locate Your QuickBooks Company File (.QBW) on Windows
Finding your QuickBooks company file (.qbw
) is essential when troubleshooting or setting up integrations like the ServiceBox connector. Below are three reliable methods to locate your file: Windows Search, QuickBooks, and directly through your C:\ Drive.
Method 1: Locating via Windows Search

Enable Hidden Files

Go to Start → Control Panel → Appearance and Personalization → Folder Options

Click the View tab

Under Advanced Settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, then click OK

Search for .QBW File
-
Click Start and type
*.qbw
into the Search programs and files box -
Wait for search results to appear

Find the File
-
Right-click the desired
.qbw
file and select an action, or write down the directory path for future use

(Optional) Re-hide Hidden Files

Repeat Step 1, but select Don't show hidden files, folders, and drives, and click OK
