How to Schedule Technicians Holidays - Add Scheduled Events

Need to block off holidays or business closures in your schedule? This guide walks you through how to create events that reflect technician unavailability, including a reliable workaround for a known display issue.

Scheduling technician holidays accurately in ServiceBox ensures your dispatch calendar reflects staff availability and helps prevent scheduling conflicts. Follow the steps below to block off holidays using a repeating scheduled event.

How to Block Off Time for Holidays or Closures

  1. Click anywhere on the Scheduler.

  2. Select Add Scheduled Event.

3.  Fill in the following fields:

  • Title: e.g. Holiday, Vacation, or Business Closed

  • Description: (optional)

  • User: Select the technician or staff member

  • Start Date & Start Time

  • Repeat Type: Choose Daily

  • Repeat Frequency: Enter 1

  • Click Add Event

You will now see that the calendar is blocked for that user starting from the selected date.

4. Set an End Date:

After creating the recurring event, go to the day after the time-off ends.

    • Click that day’s event

    • Choose Delete This and Future Events

This will block off all workdays in the desired range, then automatically clear their schedule when they return.

Known Glitch & Workaround

Sometimes, only the first few days of a multi-day event will appear on the calendar. Until this is fixed, always use the “Repeat Daily” + “Delete Future Events” method above. We will announce when this issue is resolved in a future release.
