Importing/Exporting Job Sites in ServiceBox

Learn how to export, update, and import Job Site data in ServiceBox using Excel to manage records in bulk.

We’ve added a new feature in the Job Site form that allows you to export and import job sites in bulk. This works similarly to Inventory and Quote Item import/export functionality.

Existing customers can export a job site file, update or add new job sites, and re-import it.
New customers can import job sites that haven’t yet been created in ServiceBox.

⚠️ Note: Job Sites must be linked to an existing Customer in ServiceBox. That means the Customer must exist before you can import Job Sites.

How to Export Job Sites

  1. Log in to your ServiceBox site.

  2. In the left-hand menu, click Job Sites.

  3. At the top of the Job Sites page, click EXPORT.

This will generate an Excel spreadsheet titled something like ServiceBox Job Sites workbook. If it opens in Protected View, click Enable Editing to start entering data.

How to Update the Exported File

In the Excel file, each row represents one job site. Below are explanations of the key fields and how to fill them out correctly:

Fields marked with * are mandatory.
Do not edit the ID column — it's generated by ServiceBox and used for updates.

Required Fields:

  • Customer Display Name*:
The Customer the Job Site is linked to. Must match the name in ServiceBox exactly, including spacing and punctuation.
Tip: You can find this in the Job Site info tab.

  • Display Name*:
This is the visible name of the Job Site (often the same as the street address).
New customers can enter any name they’d like to appear in ServiceBox.

Common Fields:

  • Job Code:
The internal job number, if applicable. Optional, but helpful for tracking.

  • Building Name:
Used when multiple Job Sites exist at a single address or facility.

  • Street / Address Line 2 / Address Line 3:
Full job site address. Enter as it should appear in ServiceBox.

  • City, State, Zip Code, Country Code:
Must match ServiceBox’s dropdown values exactly (for existing sites).

  • Price Book and Tax Level:
Optional. If filled in, values must match exactly what’s already configured in ServiceBox.

  • Contract Company, Contract Status, Contract Expiry:
Optional fields related to contract management.

  • Hours of Operation (Mon–Sun):
Optional. Add standard working hours for this location.

  • Use Customer Contact Info:
Enter TRUE or FALSE. If left blank, the default is FALSE.

Custom Fields

If your company uses custom fields for Job Sites (e.g., “Test 1” or “Test 2”), those will appear in the spreadsheet as additional columns. You can edit or populate them as needed. To view or add custom fields:

  1. Go to Settings > Job Site > Custom Fields.

  2. Review or edit the fields listed.

How to Import the File Back into ServiceBox

Once you've made your changes:

  1. Go to Job Sites in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click the IMPORT button.

  3. Click Choose File and select your updated spreadsheet.

  4. Click Import.

ServiceBox will display a message confirming that the import is in progress. When it finishes, you'll receive an email confirming whether it was successful or if any errors occurred.

❗ If the system finds a formatting error or missing required field (e.g., a blank Customer Display Name), you’ll see the row number in the error message. Correct the issue and re-import the file.
