Managing Technician Access to Inventory Information Without Allowing Adjustments
Enable technicians to check stock and locations without affecting inventory records.
Introduction:
Some businesses require their field technicians to have access to inventory information to check the availability and location of specific parts before or during a job. However, broad access to inventory records can lead to inadvertent or unauthorized changes, compromising inventory accuracy. ServiceBox offers a solution that enables technicians to see inventory information while restricting their ability to make edits.
Solution
Access Through the Work Order / Time & Materials (T&M) Tab
Technicians can access inventory information through the Work Order > Time and Materials (T&M) tab.

Step 1: Navigate to the relevant Work Order.

Step 2: Go to the Time & Materials tab.

Step 3: Call up items from the appropriate inventory category.

Step 4: Click the Location button in the upper-right corner (as shown below).
This allows technicians to find out where stock is located without the ability to make changes.
Location Information
The Location button within the WO T&M tab provides read-only access to inventory levels by location. This empowers technicians to:

Confirm availability of required items

Identify which warehouse or location holds the stock

Minimize delays in fieldwork by knowing exactly where to retrieve materials
This feature enhances field efficiency while preserving inventory accuracy.
