Recurring Work Not Generating New Work Orders - FAQ

Overview

Recurring work in ServiceBox is designed to automatically generate new work orders on a schedule that runs approximately once every hour. If a new work order hasn’t appeared within that window, there are two main reasons this may be happening.

1. End Date is Set Before the Next Date

If the End Date for the recurring work is earlier than the Next Date, no new work order will be created.

Example:

  • Next Date: June 15, 2022

  • End Date: June 13, 2022
→ No new work order will be generated.

How to Fix It:

  • Open the Recurring Work entry.

  • Update the End Date to be after the Next Date.

  • Save your changes — the system will now resume generating new work orders as expected.

2. "Schedule After Last Closed Work Order" is Enabled

If the setting "Schedule after last closed work order" is turned on, ServiceBox will wait until the last generated work order is closed before creating the next one.

A work order is considered closed only if its status has the "Is Closed" flag enabled in your system.

How to Fix It:

  • Go to Settings > Work Orders > Statuses

  • Ensure the correct status types have the "Is Closed" flag checked.

  • Close any outstanding work orders to allow the next one to be created.
