Removing Import of Job Sites in QuickBooks - FAQ

Issue:

When creating a new Work Order, the Job Site field in ServiceBox may be set as mandatory. This can sometimes result in what looks like duplicate customer entries in QuickBooks during the sync process. This article explains how to prevent Job Sites from importing into QuickBooks to avoid confusion and duplication.

Solution: Disable Job Site Import in QuickBooks

To stop ServiceBox from importing Job Sites into QuickBooks:

  1. Open the Accounting Connector and click on “Setup.”

  2. Navigate to the “Customers/Job Sites” tab.

  3. Enable the option:
    “Do not Import Jobsites”

Once enabled, new Job Sites created in ServiceBox will no longer sync as sub-customers in QuickBooks.

Understanding How It Works

By default, Job Sites are imported as Sub-Customers in QuickBooks.

This can look like a duplication when you're using QuickBooks' Flat View:

Example:

  • “Abbot Industries”

  • “Abbot Industries: 444 Yonge Street”

At first glance, it appears these are duplicate entries—but they’re not.

To confirm:

  1. Right-click on the customer in QuickBooks.

  2. Choose “Hierarchy View”.

You'll now see that:

  • “444 Yonge Street” is correctly listed as a sub-customer under “Abbot Industries.”
